Improving the limelight in Clancy Auditorium
Posted 24 February 2017
While the students are away, the engineers play! Over the summer break, FM’s Electrical Engineering team designed and managed the installation of a complete lighting upgrade for the Clancy Auditorium.
The new system is provides a much more uniform light, eliminating some of the dark and patchy corners in the auditorium. It also offers unparalleled levels of control, where lights can be set to different levels for each lighting row, depending on the each event’s requirements. The lighting upgrade was also specifically designed to avoid distracting glare for those on the stage and in the stalls.
In great news for the environment, the new LED light fittings are far more efficient – in some cases, they use one-sixth of the power of a traditional fitting, yet produce three times the brightness output. The LEDs have a rated life of 50,000 hours, which is a great improvement on the previous bulbs that were rated for 5000 hours.
Overall, an amazing improvement in performance, functionality and operating/maintenance costs.
